Downton’s final open day
Dawn is breaking as we make our way down to the Forest to help with the very last open day for Pop’s Plants. Following the signs through the village we are directed across the cow field to the make shift car park. All the hard work is done, just a few chairs to rearrange and then to set about trying to remember the names of the tribe of friends that are here to help! A beautiful sunny day, the crowds arrive and we have the pleasure of listening to Lesley, Gil and their friends share their un-bounding knowledge and passion with their guests. Auricula nuts flood in from far and wide, one lady even arriving with magazine article in hand asking Lesley for the exact auricula she talked about in the story.
An all weekend event, hundreds of pounds was raised for the local charity and of course it wouldn’t be Downton without celebrating the end of an era with a glass of fizz!
